Don is correct also as to the address because when the Hi Vue was built, I35E wasn’t there, and it was on Beckley. I35E wiped out that part of Beckley.
The Hi Vue was on the west side of South 35E right around Laureland Rd. (south of Loop 12). I’ve seen the address on another site listed as:
Hi-Vue Drive-In
5601 South R.L. Thornton Expressway
Dallas, TX 75228 (75228 is wrong – I lived very near there in zip 75232)
The main thing I remember about this Drive-In was that it was located near a gravel pit and in the summer the mosquitoes were thick. They sold mosquito repellent in the snack bar. My parents would rarely go there in the summer.
