Mr. Parks. Thank you for the information on the Palace organ. My father, Raymond Le Pere, played that mighty Wurlitzer in the 20’s, 30’s until WWII when he was drafted. He had a radio program on WFAA 5 days a week on that marvelous instrument. On Saturdays he played the Kiddie Klub from the Melba. He returned to the Palace on Sundays for a Hymn program. As a child I would accompany his for the weekend show where he would play the intermission music between movies. I would sit on the bench with him as we came up from the pit. What a thrill. As Bob Hope would say, “thanks for the memories” Raymond Le Pere

After months of searching, I have discovered the Mighty Wurlitzer from the Melba theater has been bought by a Dallas family and they spent 10,000 manhours rebuilding it.It was placed in the Melba in 1921. The owners are Gordon and Evelyn Wright of Dallas bought the instrument in 1978 They are members of the North Texas Chapter of the American Theater Organ Society. Raymond Le Pere

Sirs et madams…My father was the featured organist at the Majestic, Palace and Melba theaters in the 1930' and 40’s. He was featured on radio with Organ music by Raymond Le Pere from the Palace theater. He played the Early Birds show at WFAA at 7am, then ventured to the Palace for a live broacast from 11:30 to noon daily. On Saturdays, he was busy at the Melba with the Kiddie klub and on Thursday evenings was the organist for the Dr. I.Q. program. Sundays, he had a morning Hymns show on the organ from the Palace. We didn’t time much for vacations since he was working 7 days a week. As Hope would say, thanks for the memories. Raymond Le Pere

Sirs. Thanks for the old pix of the Melba. My father, Raymond Le Pere, was the organist for the Kiddie Club for several years. It was always a thrill for him to place me on the organ bench and ride up from the pit with him as he performed his miracles on the Wurlitzer. He also play for the radio show, Dr. I.Q.(..12 silver dollars and a box of Mars candy for bar for the lady in the balcony with the right answer…)On weekends, he was intermission organist at the Majestic and Palace theaters. Do anyone know where the Melba organ ended up? Thanks, Raymond Le Pere
