Joe Vogel: Thanks for the info. I am modelling the area around the rr crossing on Colorado blvd. I just came on this web site and am thrilled to not only get this photo but to see the interest in preserving these great old theaters.
I lived just up yhe street from the Crest when it was being destroyed.
I lived on N. Ivy and my kids and I used to go to the Crest all the time. When they were destroying the theater we found dressing rooms in the rear. I have a pair of the cast iron seat sides that I liberated from the Crest. The Crest Lives On!
Oh how that theater would rock and roll when the train passed!
Does anyone have information on the “Bards” in Pasadena I think it became the “Academy"
How about the "Crest” in Monrovia? I have a pair of cast seat sides from it.

I saw “The Wake of the Red Witch” at the Academy when I was a kid… Some of the murals (if my old memory is right) were done in black light.
