This week, the Phase I work was started with removal of the marquee and KLA Construction working on stabilizing the deck and beautifying the facade, keeping with the original Art Deco style. Strickler Signs is doing the rehab and neon work of the iconic Everett Marquee - 2023 is the 100th anniversary of the Stuckey/Everett Theatre!

Reimagine Everett (REv) was formed by charter members Teresa Burd, Chair; Ken Tewell, Asst Chair; Marla Pennebaker, Sec; Cheryl McInroy, Treas; Don Burd and Leah Pepple in August 2018 and the first project was to save the Everett Theatre. It had been shuttered since 2009 (theatre closed in late 80s) and the roof was bad. Water, pigeons and vandals had done a job on the Restaurant/Apartment portion of the property and it was a danger to the public being directly on Main St and adjoining businesses within inches. After many months of trying to contact the owner, Don Burd was able to talk him into giving the property to our non-profit and it was signed over on Sep 23, 2018. Many things fell into place and we were able to pay for demolition of the 2 buildings (Jan -Apr 2019)and repair and put a new roof on the theatre by summer 2019. With the theatre safe from anymore damage, we went to work trying to find grants and fundraising and an architectural firm was chosen and then Covid stopped the world. Grants received and plans for the venue were started and in 2021 the board with new members started looking for matching funds for first phase - our dream of at least seeing the Marquee and facade alive again!
