Asbury Park is wiping out its past. The only common element in both these photos is the chimney of the steam plant. Photo on top was taken from Sewell Ave in 1973 showing the “Art Deco” St. James theatre. Photo on bottom was taken in March 2018. Even that last stretch of Sewell Ave where I’m standing in the first photo and ended at Cookman Ave is gone.

Great shot of Sewell Avenue (top photo). This is where we parked when working in the Lyric, St. James or the Mayfair theaters. It was a residential street and you could leave your car there without getting a parking ticket.
