The Astorian April 1932
I did many relief duty management days at the OLD Kent Road Astoria early in my management career. Sadly it was already on hard times playing essentially off circuit programme. Not as spectacular as Brixton and Finsbury Park in the auditorium design, it was none the less a huge building with large foyer areas, queuing hallways and a fantastic stage with space and flying capability that many West End theatres would die for, particularly today, 2017, where large long running musicals dominate. The resident manager was a lady Mrs Bedwell with my experience once the decision was made to finally close, June 1968 I was drafted in to help the process and rescued this copy of The Astorian which I still have.
