Photograph taken in September 1935 showing front area of auditorium, screen, proscenium and splay walls. This entire front section was separated by the maple banded stage front, behind is the beautifully Art Deco designed area for film presentation. Viewed here we see the inner screen curtains applied with a festoon finish, the main proscenium velour curtains remain open, however, on close inspection an appliqué banding has been applied to these house curtains so when in the closed position the six bands featured on the side splay walls run the entire semi circle from the outer coved lighting battens either side, making a dramatic presentation before each film commenced. The main decorative colour scheme here was in silver, gold, maroon and rose tints. All fibrous plaster detail and internal decorations were carried out by Maple & Co., of London. Fireproof Velour with festooned drapery, tracks and screen curtains and screen were supplied and fitted by Kalee of London, who also provided all the projection equipment.
