Odeon Cinema Derby
Photograph taken July 1966 just after becoming Odeon. Renovations and decorations were carried out during 1965 including the removal of the large Compton organ which was sold to St. Phillips Catholic Church, Chaddesden. The front in this picture gives a very jaded appearance mostly because of removal of original Gaumont features and external lighting. The fourteen back stage dressing rooms certainly helped the Odeon carry on a bit longer with their 1960’s touring live shows on the very large stage.
