I just got onto this page; am interested in the reference (1234) re: the shoe store on Broad Street in Rome, which opened in the Rivoli space. I am trying to locate the owners or operators of that store. I believe it will solve a mystery for me and for our family. Great grandfather, James Jefferson Morgan, lived in Rome, then moved to Alabama. When my grandfather was returned to his home in Alabama from visits with us (in Southern Georgia), he would ask to be taken home by way of Rome, so he could visit his ‘brother’, who owned a shoe store ‘on the main street’ there. This ‘brother’ was one of two brothers James Jefferson had from a union prior to the only one we knew of with our great grandmother. I know I am not on topic, per se, here, and I hope this is okay. It is, after all, history. Thanks for any insight. On my list of things to do is to go to Rome and check this out for myself…
