Saw Midnight In Paris and The Dark Knight Rises here. Nice organic snack-bar and doesn’t show previews before the film (halleluah!), but they’re kind of jerks checking for IDs outside your theater AFTER one has purchased an alcoholic beverage there.
A nice convenient theater if you’re getting off the interstate and watch to catch something, though a lot of riff-raff hang around the train station across the street.

My ex worked there; heard all the little stories of intrigue among the staff. Big deal when it was saved in 2012 (saw Oz the Great and Powerful there for a special family screening. Good times).
I miss when it was a movie theater. Saw Gary Oldman in “Immortal Beloved” there, Woody Allen’s “Everyone Says I Love You” multiple times, great times
(Evangelo’s, the bar where Jeff Bridges performed in Crazy Heart (and in the forthcoming Granite Mountain) is just across the street to the right of the photo).
The theater seems to be in constant peril. Every two years the lease expires and the newspaper runs stories of it being on the verge of being bought out by a neighboring boutique or winery. Luckily this hasn’t happened…yet.
Saw Raiders of the Lost Ark on my parent’s wedding anniversary, Empire Strikes Back, and Ghostbusters twice (the next year on a double-bill with the premiere of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure) here.
I saw many movies here as a kid in the ‘80s – Goonies, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, Kurosawa’s Ran. Beautiful walls with twinkling stars and inlaid images of gold miners.
Man, I went to see Rocky IV when it opened here and the lines stretched up and down the mall corridors. Haven’t since anything like it since.
My mom and uncle used to see Bogart movies here when they roomed together in the Haight in the late ‘60s-early '70s.

The Chris Farley film “Black Sheep” had a scene shot here, and gives a pretty good sense of the grandeur of the lobby.
