Good news everyone. I think someone posted this, oh well. The marquee is back on and it looks pretty good. Read the calendar in today’s Hartford Courant, they have a picture of The Palace with the new marquee.
When I go to the movies, I don’t want to see this kind of drek. I always see it on tv, but I don’t want to see it in my theater. If I saw an ad for Lieberman, I’d walk right out without a word.
I remember this theater, I remember getting free passes from my boss at A.C. Petersens and my free Return of the Jedi Special Edition pass from Kiss 95.7. My father used to take us there a lot, now I’m sad to see it close.
Ghost lights are lights that theater owners put on the back door, well, it’s above the door in the back. They are used to scare ghosts away from the theater. I think that’s right.
By the way, that place sounds sooooo gooood! A marriage of old and new! Oh that is so sweet!
I sent you an e-mail. Well, it looks like her days may be numbered, the sign is up and I think the machines are ready. So if I hear any loud bangs near my house, I’ll let you know if it has been torn down or not.
Dinner theater! Yes! Is there a site yet, say like auditions?
Now it really looks sweet! I remember the back was dilapitated before the renovations. Nice pictures RK and LM.
There is this man in Bristol, CT and he is a major movie buff who runs this awesome museum called The Witches Dungeon and for a while, he was running a “Night at The Bijou.” Series at a small cineplex in Bristol. He showed horror films for a while until the landlord decided to close the movie house down and wanted to make the building something else.
Evan is right, but here’s an idea.
By the way, I am a big Anime Fan, and if I opened a theater here in Newington showing nothing but Japanese Anime Movies. It would die in a heartbeat. Anime is too exotic for the town, it would do better in places like West Hartford, Texas, or California.
On to the idea, if you are in college, why don’t you start a Horror Movie Club? Or maybe you can see if your local library or the local theater group in town can do something. They can have like a “Classic Horror Movie Film Night”
Aromatherapy in theaters, nice touch.
The Japanese are great, what will they think of next? Their food is the best and their animation is also the best.
That’s sad, I hate to hear about these small theaters closing. I have an idea that may sound retarded. Is there a local theater group in the community? Maybe it can be used for live performances and can play movies once in a while.
The Brattle Theater is having an Anime Festival!

So beautiful and festive! Bravo Chicago!
Yeah, any political ad, sorry. One thing I don’t want is reality in my movie theater.

I know, so many memories. Dang, they should have somehow saved it.
One of my play directors told me that, but thanks Jim for really explaining that.

Oh man that sounded freakin' sweet! My old drive-in, The Hartford was fun, there was a playground and it was just sweet.
Please change this to demolished, they took the screen down yesterday and the Marquee is only standing.

Hi there neighbor! Well, you can look up old Newington Theater pictures on Cinema Tour.
It’s so pretty! I wish CT would have something like this.
I saw on Channel 3 that it is going to be renovated. Yay!
Oh, it’s on Main Street, I think it’s in the Andrews Building. The Hole in the Wall Theatre Group uses it as their new home.
I hope they keep that wonderful signage in front and maybe they can show Anime Movies as well as Asian Films. I hope they’ll offer Sapporo too.

I don’t know what sits there now, maybe it’s the building that houses the new location for Hole in the Wall Theatre?

Ahh, just like the people in Torrington, CT. It’s really sweet that they saved the old gal.
I saw the same thing on CNN. It would be a shame to let it go to pot.
Pretty theater, I like! I was wondering if the premiere of
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust was shown here?
