Bob Spurs, Manager of Byker Odeon for many years until its closure in 1972, is pictured here with his hand on the shoulder of Mary Cobb who worked there for as many years. The event was the latter’s retirement at the ABC Newcastle as one of the Assistant Managers. Also in the photo are Greta Adamson and Peter Talbot (Rank Theatres) and yours truly next to Bob Spurs.
