Former Golden State Theatres Fairfax Theatre Oakland CA old boxoffice area now used as a church. Shot in August 2018. Waiting to return to movies and entertainment again when the church ever moves out.

How often as a kid I waited on Saturday mornings in front of this box office for the Fairfax Theatre to open. They would turn on the side florescent tube lights in the poster cases just before the lady entered the ticket booth with her change for the day. The coins came down a machine with a bowl at the end and the Globe tickets came out of a metal flat dispenser. The main doors would open with a real ticket taker. You could smell the hot dogs and popcorn aroma when the deco glass doors opened. Those were the days long gone. Today they would probably get robbed in the first hour after opening.
