So my husband and I went to this theater a few months ago ( 32 years after our first date at Main Street theater in 1986). We saw The Commuter with Bruce Willis (fitting – an 80’s guy) and ordered some food, which was ok. The place was not really like I remembered from back in the 80’s, but it has been remodeled and is nice inside. Not sure when I’ll be back (I live 30 mins north), but it was a fun trip down memory lane.

Update: last week my son wanted to go to a video game store in Tampa. We live in Spring Hill now but drove down in the pouring rain. Guess where it was? Sight of the old Mission Bell! I wanted to Cry when I saw an Asian joint and video game store where “The Bell” once stood!

Just drove by there yesterday. Front is all boarded up but you can see where the ticket window was. The parking lot was decrepit, there were scary types walking around, and a cop car parked in front of the flea market. I was not brave enough to go inside!

I loved this place! Went here all the time with my boyfriend in the 80’s! I remember seeing Total Recall there in 89 or 90 and a big storm came in. The power went out and we got our money back! We immediately went to another theater to finish watching the movie!

Have fond memories of going here in high school in the 80’s with my boyfriend and smuggling in beer! Last movie I saw here was Pet Semetary in 89. Scared me at the time! I should go back and check it out. Is it safe in that area?

This theater will always hold a special place in my heart, as my husband and I went on our first date there in 1986 at age 16! It was Stand by Me, kind of an odd movie for a first date, but it fit our personalities pretty well! And here we are, 27 years later, been married 19 years and still going strong! I can’t hear the song Stand by Me without thinking of that date and the old Main Street theater! I have not been to the new one yet, but plan to soon!

This theater was the “hot spot” back in the day, mid-80’s when I was in high school! It was THE place to see and be seen and everyone cruised around the parking lot over and over. Back when gas was 80 cents a gallon! Ahh! I remember I saw a film here in 1985 and the ac was broken! I was sad when I came back to Tampa and it was torn down!
