Enough already. Is this beautiful theatre for sale? Who is selling it.
How much is it? I really want to know for we can get this theatre up and running again. I made a special trip from San Diego to San Francisco to see this beautiful theatre, and thru the crack in the door , I can still see the beauty within. Also some kids were hanging out behind the theatre, drinking. I planned to convert it back to it’s original beauty and play old classics there, with occasional jazz and live concerts. I am also an Architectural Designer and have many contractors and Interior Designer’s at my disposal. Please someone let me know what’s going on up there.
The marquee on the 16th street side (main entry) was very large. It had the words PARAMOUNT on a revolving yellow sign and white on the other side that moved and small bright lights surrounded it. It was great a night. I have not seen any photo’s of the large concession stand within the main doors or a photo of the large majestic staircase that went to the mezzanine. On the mezzanine were large bathroom all with marble casing and below on the first floor were lounges for both men and women. There are no photo’s of this beautiful theatre interiorally, if anyone has please post them.
The Lake shore drive-in was the place for all of the b-movies and glorious fun filled nights. They would run all of the Edger Allen Poe movies for Halloween, such as The Premature Burial, Tales of Terror, Pit and the Pendulum, The Haunted Castle,House of Usher all on one program. They would call it the Dusk to Dawn show. What fun. It was also down the street from the famous Lakeside Amusement Park.
Also the Paramount Theatre, the Crest Theatre, Thae Arvada Plaza, were also part of the Wolfberg Chain. I worked at the Paramount Theatre from 1968 to 1978. I beleive they all went privately owned after the 80’s,not quite sure of commonwealth owning them.Allof the drive-in were under Wolfberg umberella for quite sometime except the Lake Shore Drive -in. Those were the good times.
Does anyone have a photo of the Paramount 16th strre side..the main entry was on 16th street, most of the pictures shown are the Glenarm street side. I used to manage the paramount theatre from 1968 to 1977.
the towne theatre was located in 16th and welton street right across the street from the RKO International theatre. It was located in the middle of the block.
