Very cool theater in it’s day. It was originally a 4 plex then added to more to make it 6. I believe the managers name was Mr. Fink. New the 2 projectionists, Clyde and Frank and would watch movies up there and watch him thread those projectors. Century projectors and Cristie AW2 platters.
I saw a few movies there. The one that comes to mind was the Flintstone Movie. It was advertised as in color but was black and white. I also remember the projections announcing before the movie “No Seat Hopping….”
I was there before demolition started. I was able to get inside to get the remaining equipment. Later on the Superintendent showed up gave him a hundred bucks and he helped me get the rest. Love this theatre when it was just 2 screens. My first movie experience there was Oliver. I also have lots of pictures of it during demolition.
One Million Years B.C. (1966) was the very first movie I saw at the Brookhurst and the first walk in Theatre I went to. Also saw all the Donn Knots movies and Patton in 70mm just to name a few.
