I WASN’T GOING TO SAY ANYTHING..ABOUT HELLO DOLLY TIL' I SAW WHAT WAS BEING SAID ABOUT DANNY LOCKIN. I HAVE BEEN ON C.T FOR MANY YEARS.. I ALSO KNOW THAT TOPICS GO WITH THE FLOW… THE ONLY REASON I POSTED THIS FOR THE LINE “MAYBE I’M A NEWBIE”. WAS THAT A PERSONAL ATTACK?
Danny Lockin’s role, naïve maybe, like a young guy living in a small town hearing for the first time, there’s another world out there..
Sorry, he did not live long enough to show us more…He passed in August 21 1977..due to homicide…You know HELLO DOLLY opened at THE RIVOLI in 1969..
I was what UA called a “City Manager” of the Squire and Playhouse back in 70’s before moving on to the Rivoli N.Y. 1975. The only reason I mention it, was talking to someone about when it snowed on Easter Sunday…and there were lines down the block at both theatre’s. Maybe someone can remember the year and what was playing at the Squire and Playhouse.
PS: IF YOU GO TO PHOTO PAGE 4 YOU CAN SEE THE BUILDING TO THE RIGHT.. NOT SURE WHEN IT BECAME A PARKING LOT..I KNOW THE IT WAS STILL THERE IN THE 70’S.
It was easy to put Babylon back together again it was built in the shell of the same exact spot…I don’t know if you can still see it… if you go to the south east corner of DPA and Main look up you can see where two kinds of brick along crack..the only major work was the roof where steel fell. there was no “adjacent land”..That parking lot next store was an apartments and stores that were there before the theatre.
I MAY HAVE SENT IT TO ONE OF YOUR BLOGS AND OR E MAIL MAY HAVE POSTED IT WRONG..GREAT WALDO PEPPER RIVOLI AND PHOTOS I SENT YOU ARE NOT ON CT. MISTER WGLI IS THE E MAIL THAT CT HAS ON FILE..
Paul: The flyers were printed in the basement of Babylon in a little room few feet from furnace…They were printed for all theatre’s..Then was moved To the Gables Theatre in Merrick..
