I must disagree, Raysson. Thailian Hall (built in 1862) is a VERY historic Wilmington theatre, but it’s not primarily a movie theatre, although films are shown there. My favorite memories of the Manor Theatre were seeing the 40th Anniversary revival of the Marx Brothers “Animal Crackers” there in 1973, “Song Of The South” in 1974, Pink Floyd’s “Live At Pompeii” in 1978, and in 1980, when it had a long run of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” for the midnight movies.
Happy to see these photos. I used to go to the Main when I was a kid in the 60’s, growing up in Skyline Acres. They used to play old movies like “Frankenstein” and “The Bank Dick” on Friday and Saturday nights, admission was a quarter (for kids) and fountain Cokes and bags of popcorn were a dime each.
I grew up in Skyline Acres 1963-1971, this was my favorite place to see movies as a kid, they had an immense playground! I remember seeing comedies like “Munster Go Home”, “The Ghost & Mr. Chicken”, Disney films like “The Aristocats”, and war movies like “The Green Berets”. A real family-oriented Drive-In.

I grew up in Skyline Acres, age 3 to 10, moving to Forest Park in 1971; in ‘69 and '70 we’d get one of our moms to drive a carload of us over there: admission on Friday & Saturday nights was a quarter, and the owner sold small bags of popcorn and Dixie Cups of Coca-Cola for ten or fifteen cents apiece. They had a Birthday Club, and would mail you a free pass for your birthday. I remember seeing films like “The Bank Dick” and “Dracula” with my friends here. I’m pretty sure it’s the first place I ever saw a hippy smoke a joint.
