From the 1960’s. Note the holes in the marquee. When the theater had changed its name in the mid 30’s new neon lettering was installed that read “Embassy”. When it reverted to the original “Iselin” name, a new “tin” painted sign was placed on the front (see 1947 photo).
The original “Iselin” neon letters were brought out of storage and eventually restored to the marquee, but over the years the holes for the “Embassy” sign were never filled in, visible in this photo. From the book “Life and Death of a Movie Theater” by I. Joseph Hyatt (available on Amazon).
