Facade Detail

Facade window niche over the marquee, with restored leaded glass window. The light “stripe” visible behind the glass is the thickness of the second floor, added in the 1940s. In the 40s, the floor was somehow not visible behind the glass blocks installed then. As there is space between the floor and the leaded glass, conceivably, panels of some kind of black or dark gray material could be inserted in front of the light surface of the floor’s structural thickness, ridding the window if this obvious visual distraction. In the 1920s, there was no floor crossing the window, as it looked into the soaring ticket lobby space.
