Glebe Theatre
The oddity about the Avalon is that it was designed as a sound picture house to open in 1928. But when the sound equipment was delayed getting to Ottawa, the theatre operated as a silent house from grand opening on November 17th, 1928 (shown here) to March of 1929 when manager Ambrose Nolan advertised that he had equipped the theater for sound.
