Ticket lobby of the Towne, showing the terrazzo and poster case dating from its 1950s remodel. The simple classical cornice, painted brown, dates from the theater’s days as the Hester. On the Right, a section of terrazzo floor can be seen missing, replaced with red-tinted concrete, and above it, the marble wainscoting stops, and its visual band is continued in dark paint. This is where the 1950s box office stood. It had been removed by at least the early 1980s. When the theater was the Hester, a more typical freestanding octagonal box office stood in the center. All Towne entry photos: 2009. Careful on site scrutiny of the concrete patch reveals that someone played a game of tic-tac-toe before the concrete set, and it is there, immortalized for posterity.
