The curtains would open and I spent many hours watching on this big huge curved screen . Tora Tora Tora , Hello Dolly , South Pacific , Funny Girl, Man of La Mancha,,Camelot , Fiddler on the Roof, Dr Zichvago , the Boston Strangler , Sounder, Sound of Music, Pretty Baby , One Flew Over the Coo coos Nest , many many more ! My older sisters worked behind the stand and we were allowed free buttered popcorn and a drink with free refills since my grandmother lived next door to the manager Mr and Mrs Ernie Hackney . They hired my sisters and when I was 16 Mr Banister was then the next manager . Jean and Nancy and Mert were the box ladies forever . A very vivid memory was a cash drawer with no calculator ! We had to add every transaction in our head ! There were cigarette machines in the beginning then video games took their place . We made coffee at that time . Sold butter popcorn , ice cream, chocolate almonds , Jordan almonds , butter finger , nestle crunch , Boston beans , lemon drops , hot dogs , Dr Pepper, Coke, Sprite, Root beer . We would be so busy I remember adding so fast in my head it was crazy ! We would stay and hang out in the parking lot or lobby after work or going out to the bowling alley close by . The building maybe gone but the people and friends remember how grand the Cine on Yale Blvd was in 1969 – 70’s -80’s -90'’s and 2000’s .
Not to forget the first rocking chairs in Dallas ! ( brand new ) – Linda S
