15th and Douglas streets, looking north on July 7th, 1922. This street was known as “Theater Row” because of all the movie theaters. In this photo, we have The Empress, The World, and The Rialto theaters. Look how elaborate these buildings were! The Empress burned to the ground in 1929, The World later became The Omaha Theater and operated as that until it closed in 1978, and The Rialto closed in 1929 and was divided into several retail establishments.
