Former Entrance To Burl Theatre Boulder Creek CA

So many people lined up here in the 1950’s 60’s and 70’s to see two movie features some first run and most second run B type movies. Each one played for 2 or 3 days. They always had a crowd with all the Santa Cruz mountain tourists coming in the summer time. Such a shame that the same family that owned the Burl Theatre also closed their drive in a few miles away in the mid 1950’s. The reason I heard that they sold the old Burl indoor cinema to a office building was that the local kids were ripping the seats up all the time. Now in all of Santa Cruz CA we have no second run cinemas in the area. If you miss a first run movie you will have to wait for the DVD or download. Some smart movie loving people need to re open the Burl Theatre some day. This cinema had nice blue lights on the side walls and even had curtains that opened and closed.
