The Jackie Coogan film was “Buttons,” made in 1927. “The Mark of Zorro” with Douglas Fairbanks from 1920 would follow. The year is 1930. Most Italian cinemas were not yet equipped with sound, and Italian-made sound films would only begin to trickle out in that year.
