Cannon Derby
Odeon, November 3 1970. The cinema was originally the Gaumont Palace and opened on September 17, 1934, with 2,300 seats. It was also a theatre, hosting pantomimes at Christmas. In 1965, it became the Odeon but closed in 1983, and then re-opened as the New Trocadero, replacing the old burnt down Trocadero, with a cinema and bingo hall. It was briefly taken over by the Cannon chain before finally closing in 1988. The building then became Zanzibar night club and more latterly Cosmo Restaurant.
