It began with the Lions Club Orchestra giving a musical program. Everyone was welcomed by Mayor H.L. Hendrix. After Rev. J. C. Marshall spoke on “Social and Moral Value of the Motion Picture”, J. F. Kilpatrick told of “The Educational Value of the Motion Pictures”. The first movie was D. W. Griffith’s great historical drama “America” starring Lionel Barrymore, Neil Hamilton and Carol Dempster.”
