Frontage, looking towards the railway.

I first became aware of this fine theatre when I saw it from a passing train, and soon after made a special effort to see it. I wasn’t allowed to enter, but I did get a couple of colour photographs. The Spanish gothic decoration is particularly fine.

im a theatre buff and still remember the stunning theatres in the 60s in Bondi junction the metro the Star the woollahra theatre where we all went as kids every Saturday afternoon by tram sometimes walked from Paddington.I worked as a “Page Boy” in the early 60s at the Sydney State theatre and would sometimes here the Wurlitzer organ being played prior to the theatre opening, it sounded amazing ,gone re these days and movie houses we new as kids. This theatre is magnificent ,still there? I watched a segment on 7 news how it has been recreated by computer imaging very smart.
