The fire on 15th July 1931 destroyed the building and the site was cleared completely and a new Rendezvous was built by owner Charles Naylor and opened on Saturday 26th November 1932. The picture above shows the auditorium from the 1932 re-build. Cinema proprietor Lou Morris later acquired the cinema in 1934 and a new company was formed, Rendezvous (Cambridge) Ltd with Lou Morris as Chairman and Managing Director and Charles Naylor as Director. The following year in 1935 adjoining property was purchased and Architect Leslie Kemp & Tasker were employed to make improvements, enlarge the cinema, completely altering and redecorating the interior. A new stage area including a Compton organ with chambers above with grilles installed within the ceiling. This third Rendezvous cinema opened on 20th December 1935. In February 1936 Lou Morris sold his interest in the Company. March 1938 saw the Company go into liquidation. New owners changed the name to Rex cinema in April 1938.
