Chatswood Kings Theatre
Officially opened by State MP for the area Sir Phillip Goldfinch, in the presence of the local mayor, Friday 24 July 1936 with Paramount’s “The Big Broadcast of 1936”. The following day normal programming commenced with “The Trail of the Lonesome Pine” (the first feature-length film to be shot in three-strip Technicolor on location) plus “Anything Goes” twice daily at 2 & 8 p.m. The theater license to seat 997 was proclaimed 10 September 1936.
