The Shire of Leonora have received $100,000 to assist with the Barnes Theatre restoration project. Work is already underway on this complex project with the Theatre being inspected by a specialised structural and heritage engineer Peter Baxendale. Opened in 1901, the Barnes Theatre was once considered to be the best hall outside of Perth and saw many balls, dances and concerts take place. Slim Dusty once played there!
