Corio Theatre 145 Little Malop Street, Geelong, VIC - 1944

Back in the 1940’s the Corio Theatre was the place to go. If you wanted a seat in the lounge for Saturday night, you had to make sure you booked on a Monday.
This photo is of the Corio Theatre Staff back in 1944, probably at a staff breakup down the beach. Which just goes to show how popular the theatre was those days, ushers, usherettes, ticket box, and also the sellers of food and drinks at interval.
Stacey Stace writes - My Nan is in this photo. She loved her job as an usherette. I would hear so many stories about the Corio theatre. I wonder if the man in the middle is the boss, Mr Filkenstein. It would be nice to put a face to the name. Thanks for posting. 😊 - Courtesy of Geelong In Historical Pictures.
