VENETIAN Theatre; Racine Wisconsin
This shows the last day of streetcar service in Racine on September 30th, 1940. Passengers are transferring from the Wisconsin-Douglas car to a newer city bus at the Venetian Theatre on Main Street. Car #35 is a secondhand Wasson built in 1923 that TM got cheaply from the failed Milford and Uxbridge Railway of New England in 1928. Car #35 got second-hand TM trucks that had been original equipment on some TM 900s. This whole section of the east side of Main Street was torn down in 1977. [ Frank Butts Photo ]
