Rex Theatre 127 Rundle Mall, Adelaide, SA - Started off as The Pavilion Theatre June 22, 1912

“Rundle Street, south side, December 19th 1932, near side of the Pavilion Theatre is 29 yards west of Twin Street and frontage is 17 yards. On the site stood the Arcadia Picture Palace from July 2, 1910 until February 11, 1911. The Pavilion Picture Theatre opened on June 22, 1912 until the late 1920’s. It was used as a miniature golf links.

It opened as the Rex Theatre in March 31,1933. The theatre with its pleasing Edwardian facade was the first cinema in South Australia to play continuous pictures from 11am to 11pm.

The Pavilion housed a Wurlitzer theatre organ, the first in South Australia, and was played by organist Dorothy Dempsey for many years."
