This was a reissue of a 1946 blockbuster which debuted in NYC at Radio City Music Hall (with stage revue), followed by the Fox in downtown Brooklyn, and then on to the Loew’s neighborhood circuit. A very successeful sequel, “Jolson Sings Again,” followed in 1949, but debuted in NYC at Loew’s State before moving on to the Fox in downtown Brooklyn and then the Loew’s nabes.
Thanks ‘film’ for the ad. I guess they re did the sound from the mono masters and turned It into a 4 track mag print. Strange no mention about STEREOPHONIC 4 TRACK MAGNETIC SURROUND SOUND in the advertisement. I wonder If this 1954 stereo version is available on BLU RAY or DVD?
I did a search and It’s only in MONO sound on the DVD release no Blu Ray. Too bad as ‘You Tube’ has the 4K restored version up in stereo sound. Looks like Columbia did the stereo version when they put on 12 inch video LD only.
