Photograph taken July 1965. The facade we see above is a replacement of the original that was damaged during WW2. The Odeon cinema construction was by Leightons (Cinemas) Ltd of Lowestoft. Leightons built many cinemas for various architects between 1931 - 1939 their Head Office was at Leighton House Potters Bar. At their peak 1935 -1936 they were building four cinemas at one time. The Odeon front was rebuilt by Leightons after the war. Leightons last complete cinema to be built was the Radion cinema Lincoln opening Monday March 27th 1939.
