View of auditorium photographed for opening and seated 1,850. The rather plain decoration was relieved only be the gilt splay wall grilles, was carried out by W. J. Wilson & Son of Mansfield.The simple decoration was possibly because of the future uncertainty in Europe during 1938 and what was to follow. The Wilton fitted carpet and crushed velvet seating were supplied and fitted by Kalee Ltd., Wardour Street, London. The proscenium opening being 42 feet wide by 26 feet high. There were also four dressing rooms for stage performances especially during the 1960’s.
