Architects Verity & Beverley were engaged to design the large Ritz cinema on a difficult site, from the planning stages, restricted front entrance, a large auditorium, restaurant and ballroom. Also taken into this project was architect Alfred Thraves who was to oversee the internal decoration and day to day running of this new build from his central offices in Nottingham.
