Poitier’s only first-run film in 1969 was “The Lost Man” which opened in July at the University City Cinema. However, several of his sixties movies, including “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” “In the Heat of the Night, ” “To Sir, With Love,” “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” “For Love of Ivy,” and “The Lost Man” had second-runs at neighborhood theaters in eleven of the twelve months of 1969. Sidney Poitier had his final appearance on the top ten box office list, ranking number six in 1969.
