The Marina Drive-In Theatre in Lightning Ridge was an iconic part of the town’s history, opening on May 31, 1973, and operating for nearly two decades.
It was established by an Italian family who relocated from Andamooka in 1972.
The drive-in screened a wide range of popular movies, including classics like “Crocodile Dundee” and “Crocodile Dundee II”, as well as other well-known films like “Space Balls”, “The Man from Snowy River”, and “Die Hard”.
The drive-in’s closure marked the end of an era for movie lovers in Lightning Ridge.
