Next to the proscenium you can see a decorative wall panel, also known as wainscoting. Even in ancient Roman frescoes, wall designs were framed with painted borders that defined each section and allowed the viewer to focus on specific design features. All classic mansions since then have used moldings and painted frames to create features that both contain decorative wall elements and create a sense of structure that balances large surfaces.

On the side wall you can see scenes that have been painted to create a theme and a mood which was the custom in theatre decoration during the early part of the century. In this case 1912. It’s interesting despite the wood and material that’s leaning on it that it survived down the years till now.
