Grand Theatre 118 N. Court Street, Circleville, OH - 1938
Steve Liegl writes - I wonder how the small town sensibilities of Circleville, Ohio reacted to the controversial movie, The Birth of a Baby, in 1938.
It was an educational film that had a difficult time getting by the Hayes Office & state censorship boards, and was even banned in the state of NY for being “too indecent for public entertainment”.
*The Grand Theater started out as an opera house in 1888, switched to a movie theater in 1938 & closed in ‘62.
