The history of 100 King William Street Adelaide - The site began as White’s Rooms (established in 1856), a popular venue for concerts and recitals. It underwent several name changes, including Garner’s Theatre, the Tivoli, and the Star Picture Theatre, before being completely rebuilt.Opening as The Majestic (1916): In 1916, the site (along with the adjoining Clarence Hotel) was effectively demolished and replaced by the Majestic Theatre and Majestic Hotel.
It was hailed as Adelaide’s “most modern” venue at the time, specifically designed for cinema.
