Another photograph of Resident Organist Gerald Shaw taken in colour 1970 and showing the wooden replacement seat he had made because of the heat generated by the internal light fittings. Some years later the original Compton seat was discovered in a farm out-building, restored and reinstated with the console May 1979. I remember Gerald well whilst being an Assistant Manager at the Odeon 1967 – 1970 and remembering completing the wage returns finding a separate line for ‘Organist’….. Gerald was the last of the three resident organists employed full time at the Odeon by the Rank Organisation.
