TRIBUTE - Kevin Barrie Yelland (1937–1985) was a Western Australian resident from Highgate whose diverse career path blended aviation and early cinema history -
During the early 50’s Kevin served as a jet aircraft pilot stationed at the RAAF Base Pearce, Australia’s main military aircrew training base located just north of Perth. He balanced his time in the skies by working on the ground as a projectionist for his father Robert Yelland at the historic Regent Theatre in Guildford.
During this era, the theatre was a prominent fixture of the local entertainment scene and operated under the Consolidated Theatres group, which was run by Bob Yelland.
Born around 1937, he resided in the inner-perth suburb of Highgate during his life. He passed away on 1 February 1985 at the age of 48 and was laid to rest at Karrakatta. Cemetery.
