So great they run true 35mm films from the large long Paramount Theatre projection booth from time to time. I think they even have a few 16mm units and a ton of spotlights. The only problem is with the MONO sound. Many films are in Dolby Stereo they show. They took all the box 4 ch mag stereo surround speakers off the side walls many years ago. It would be so nice that ‘Dolby Labs’ is located in the SF Bay Area they would help put in some ‘Dolby’ equipment that they may have pulled from some other cinemas and put in the Paramount. They don’t need to put the surround speakers on the side walls just hide up in the mid and rear part of the ceiling grills. Now I have been told they just hook up two big speakers behind the screen for movies. The sound can be distorted because It’s a big house hard to hear words at times. These mono speakers do give out good base but no right, left and center stereo separation and no surround split channel effect sound. The Paramount Theatre needs a stereo sound unit put in if they are going to show more 35mm movies. It would sound so nice.
