Adelphi Theatre 367 Nicholson Street, Melbourne, VIC

The Adelphi Theatre in the Melbourne area was a historic cinema located at 367 Nicholson Street, North Carlton.

Originally opened as the Jubilee Picture Palace in 1912, it was enlarged and renamed the Adelphi Theatre in 1922 before closing as a picture house in 1967. For many years the projection booth was manned by Wally Waterfall, an electrician by trade & a wonderful personality for those who worked with him.

Started as the Jubilee Roller Skating Rink before converting into the Jubilee Picture Palace in 1912.

Re-opened as the larger Adelphi Theatre in 1922, screening films independently for 45 years.San Remo Ballroom: After closing in 1967, the venue was converted into the San Remo Ballroom, which continues to operate as an event and function space today.
