The management of the Roxy Theatre, Yeppoon, will provide a special Old Year-New Year treat for its patrons tonight and on Saturday night with a specially selected talkie programme, together with 30 minutes of one of the best vaudeville turns of its kind at present in Australia. Warner Bros' spectacular musical, “The Singing Marine,” starring golden voiced Dick Powell, will have its Central Queensland premiere at the Roxy Theatre. Yeppoon, tonight, will be screened again tomorrow at the Matinee Sunday at night. Dick sings six new song hits.

The production is brimful of entertainment and includes a very talented newcomer in Doris Weston as Dick’s new leading lady. Lee Dixon provides new dance numbers and Hugh Herbert and Allen Jenkins uproarious comedy. There are many glorious spectacular settings, and Larry Adler, the world-famous wizard of the mouthorgan, will be seen in an entire Larry Adler sequence, creating new symphonies with his harmonica and rendering his famous “Roberta” selection.

The new song hit of “The Singing Marine,” “You Can’t Run Away from Love,” ‘“Cause My Baby Says It’s So,” “Song of the Marines,” “The Lady That Couldn’t Be Kissed,” “Night Over Shanghai,” and “I Know Now.” were specially written by Al Dubin and Harry Warren, who have gained fame as the songsmiths for “42nd Street” and all the “Gold Diggers” musicale.

The associate feature to “The Singing Marine” is Dick Foran, the popular Binging cowboy, in “Guns of the Pecos,” with Anne Nape] in the feminine lead. In this new type singing Western Dick Foran does some spectacular riding as well as capable acting aa a “Texas Ranger,” and sings two new catchy airs.

John Gilmour and his performing dogs will provide 30 minutes of vaudeville, a treat for young and old. The dogs show remarkable intelligence and go through their many tricks and years of patience in bringing this act, one of the best of its kind at present in Australia, to the high standard it is in entertainment.

Popeye the Sailor In “Let’s Get Movin'” and Cinesound Australian Review complete the Roxy’s special endeavor to give its patrons a dandy Old Year-New Year entertainment treat.
