Loews Warfield Theatre SF Movie Ad Athena

1954 ‘Athena’ played on the screen at the ‘Loews Warfield’, later on It was called the ‘Fox Warfield’. Strange this was not filmed in a new wide screen format but I think some theatres played it in stereo sound. MGM did not want to pay 2oth Century Fox the rental for the CinemaScope lens fee I bet. MGM did not do many CinemaScope films. Just shown in the middle of the new giant ‘Warfield’ CinemaScope stage screen. Was ‘Athena’ filmed in 1.33 or 1.85? This ad is from my ‘Terry Photo’ movie ad newspaper collection that I frame onto a large poster display from all the movies playing that day in San Francisco in 1954. The ‘Warfield’ is still standing today showing live stage events as with the old ‘RKO Golden Gate Theatre’ across the street along with the ‘Cinerama Orpheum Theatre’ up Market St a few blocks. No more Paramount, St Francis, Esquire, Telenews, State, Embassy, United Artists and a slew of small B open all night theatres. We miss the Pix & Hub Theatres all in downtown SF.
